That Time I Talked to the Sky
Jessica Yu || Spring 2021
Oh wait, I think the sun is out now
I’m sure the clouds will pick me up soon
I guess I better get ready
My lipstick fell out of my bag
but it looks good as new
My foundation has spilled in my drawer
but the bottle is still full
Where is my hair clip, though?
It’s reddish brown with seven
Long claws on each side
Have you seen it?
You know how I hate hair in my face
How I hate to obstruct my view when up
there, that’ll do when
my ride is here
Is it not time yet?
They’re never, ever late
You know how the sky
Does not make mistakes
And they know how I hate
Sitting around with my face caked
Waiting and waiting
And waiting some more
Remember all those adventures
From before? Before they snowed us in?
Before, when it was always sunny
Like it is now?
And you said you’d never come back
Down, if you could
I’m sure if we give it just
A few minutes more
The clouds will pull up to my window
And I know you could never
Say no to a ride
I know you, I know you
I know
You have got to be kidding me!
